My First Doorknob Collection

Check marks on an impossible list

Using a snorkel down the hallway of our old apartment

The moon glares through curtains

The anchored timeline I asked my sister about

Waking at 3 a.m. wishing for more than a drink of water

Seeking entry through the wrong keyhole

The guilt of tripping over the cat in the dark

Not noticing the break in the grid before I'd driven to the end of the road

Someone else's lucky number
